We need to take a few minutes and give you all an update on how things are going with the pregnancy.

As many of you know, today is the actual due date of the baby. So far things have gone very well and both Charmaine and the baby are healthy.

Today though, at her weekly doctor appointment, Charmaine was given some bad news. The baby's head has not dropped into the birth canal and the doctor feels that this is likely because its head is too big to fit. Although its still mostly intuition and guess work on his part, he's pretty sure that we'll need to schedule a c-section in the next week or so.

Needless to say this is not good news for us. Much of the anticipation of the previous 9 months has been heightened by the emotions that surround thoughts of labour and delivery. Both of us wondering if we have the character to make it through, Charmaine wondering if she can handle the pain and me wondering if I can be the support that she needs. To hear today that she may be delivering by c-section is not at all what we wanted though I think its particularly hard for Charmaine.

The doctor has cautiously said that he has seen situation like ours still result in a natural delivery. While there is nothing specific that we can physically do to ensure this happens we know that this is what we want.

We believe that God answers the prayers of His people we would like to ask all of you to take some time out each day this week to pray specifically that the baby will move into the correct position, that its head will fit and that Charmaine will be able to deliver naturally. Further, Charmaine and I have both been sick for the better part of a week now (which has helped with being more patient). Please pray that we'll both get well again soon so that we can be healthy and ready for the baby's arrival.

We know that many of you have been praying for us regularly and we want you to know that we really appreciate your care and concern. Thank you for joining with us these last few days in asking God to bring our child safely into the world.
