Shyloh Zachary Wilson was born at 7:34 PM on January 15th in Kelowna General Hospital.  He's a healthy baby boy at 9lbs 8oz and 20" long.  Both he and Mom are doing well.

Both our GP and the OB saw Charmaine today and suggested that since Shyloh's head had not yet engaged it was unlikely that waiting any longer would change anything. We agreed at that point to go ahead with the cesarean section. It took some time to work us into the schedule but things got going around 7:00 PM or so.  Charmaine held up beautifully through the surgery despite the uncomfortable sensations and when she first heard Shyloh's cry everything else around just faded.  It took them awhile to get him cleaned up but she was able to hold him for about 10-15 minutes while they continued with the surgery. I was able to be with her during the surgery and then stayed with Shyloh in the nursery until they brought Charmaine back upstairs. She did not react well to the anesthetic though and remained in the recovery room for some extra time. Once she did come up she was able to nurse him and enjoy a few more precious moments before falling asleep.

The maternity ward is still not allowing visitors due to the risk of RSV but we are looking forward to introducing Shyloh in person to all of you once we are able to bring him home.
